Peri-implantitis: Unchained & Demystified

Although a high predictability and long-term success rate of dental implants is well documented in the literature, peri-implant disease affecting osseointegrated implants is a topic of major interest in contemporary dentistry. As more and more people today are choosing dental implants a corresponding rise in the number of individuals with this post-implant complications can be observed.

Therefore, successful diagnosis and management of peri-implantitis requires a thorough understanding of the underlying medical and dental factors involved in the overall complexity of this disease. This presentation aims to explore the recent literature for effictive diagnostic optionss, differnential diagnosis, non-surgical and surgical treatment options of peri-implantitis and evaluate their effectiveness and limitations.

Content of the lecture:

  • Etiology, risk factors, prevalence, classification of peri-implant bone defects
  • Clinical manifestations, examinations and radiologic diagnostics of ailing and failing implants, the role of Vitamin D in early implant failure
  • Differential diagnosis of peri – implantitis, Titanium intolerance
  • Decision making process: When to save or to remove an implant
  • Broad based and scientific literature supported overview of non-surgical treatment options and surgical therapy approaches (resective and regenerative) used in modern peri-implantitis management and treatment
  • Optional amendment: Modern techniques of implant removal (explanation)

Clean Navigation - Avoiding Leftovers in the Jawbone

Navigation systems are on the rise, but in most of the systems there is a risk of leftovers either from the drill or from the tube. Psychology is the Secret to Success - How Respecting the Autonomy of your Patients Creates Explosive Practice Growth!

The concept that “Doctor knows best” has existed for decades and is largely to blame for the disconnect between patient and care provider. With such a heavy focus in pre-doctoral studies on core sciences such as biochemistry and microbiology it is understandable why the majority of doctors come into the work-force with a better understanding of how to interact with a petri dish than with people.

This presentation will provide proven steps on how to deepen your relationships and better connect with your patients (and everyone else in your life!). Dr. Blodgett will share how his educational background in psychology and work as a crisis counselor helped him develop the effective communication systems and grow his practice to 10-times its original production level. His example demonstrates how your practice can be insurance independent and technologically progressive all while respecting the autonomy of your patients.

Learning Objectives:

  • Patient Experience - Love, don't judge
  • Accurate Language - Wants, not needs
  • Active Listening - Ask, don’t tell

Dr. Kelly J. Blodgett is redefining the modern dental experience. Over the past 20 years he has created a practice which is recognized as an international hotspot for Dental Tourism. He attracts those who seek a holistic and integrative biological approach to their oral health. Through his weekly Toxic Tuesday and Wellness Wednesday social media posts, Dr. Blodgett shares truths not commonly discussed in traditional dental settings. His post series illustrate his patients’ incredible journeys back to health along with providing best practices for predictable oral and systemic health.
